Meet Garrett Jue, The Inspector Behind JOAT
Trained through a unique background in the Air Force and the Oil Industry, Garrett is the one checking your home and writing the report.
I Served in the Air Force, and It Set How I Work
I’m Garrett Jue. I own JOAT Home Inspections, and I’m the one who walks your house.
The Air Force is where the habits came from. Read the procedure before you touch anything. Write down what you actually found, not what you expected to find. Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do are its core values. I didn’t choose them. They were the terms of the job, and I still work that way.
I Spent Fifteen Years Where a Missed Detail Was Expensive
While I was in, I held a nuclear certified inspector certification. It meant I was trusted to inspect work where the standard was absolute and guessing wasn’t on the table.
I also personally worked on and maintained million dollar equipment supporting billion dollar operations. The B-1 Lancer bomber fleet is the example I give, because people can picture it. That fleet runs into the multibillion dollar range, and a missed detail there was expensive.
The oil industry asked for the same thing. I worked as a subsea engineer, including work for Shell, on equipment sitting on the sea floor where nobody gets a second look. That’s more than fifteen years around complex systems that demanded exceptional attention to detail.
Three Years On Job Sites Taught Me How Houses Go Together
I spent roughly three years assisting a general contracting company. It started as work and turned into what I’d honestly call a fascination with architecture.
I liked seeing houses opened up. I liked learning why a wall was built the way it was, and what happens years down the road if somebody gets it wrong. I still can’t walk through a finished house without seeing behind the drywall.
I Don't Have a Side in Your Sale
I started JOAT because of something that had bothered me for a long time. I kept watching people make the largest purchase of their lives with almost nobody in the room who didn’t stand to gain from the sale.
I wanted to be an honest, unbiased party that wasn’t solely in it for the money.
Garrett Jue Owner and Inspector
When you work with me, you can trust that I will always act in your best interest.
What That Means When I'm At Your House
When I show up, nothing about it is dramatic. I take my time. I measure what I find against the Texas standard instead of my own opinion, and I write it down plainly enough to read once.
The decision about the house stays yours. My job is to make sure you have an accurate picture of it.
